Running The Good Life

No longer Royal, the Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon goes this weekend and the BRC is in the running for the team competition crown.

As of Friday morning the weather forecast for Sunday’s Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon isn’t very promising, but I’m really looking forward to racing this weekend. In addition to seventeen members of my Running Room marathon clinic, the Broadway Run Club is fielding another good squad looking for a shot at the team competition podium for a third-straight year. John Hill’s Vancouver Falcons speedster factory is bringing over an absolutely stacked team which includes Graeme Wilson, Kevin O’Connor, Anne-Marie Madden and David Palermo, a marathon rookie who races against buses for fun. Judging from the team confirmation list, it appears that VFAC has learned from last year’s oversight by making sure all of their fastest members are signed up for the team competition… curses! Unless the whole team ends up on the ferry to Prince Rupert by mistake, VFAC looks to be a lock on the top spot in the open team competition for the first time since 2007.

As of the latest confirmation list update, the Prairie Inn Harriers appear to have stacked the masters team competition at the expense of their open team, but the local squad has most certainly got some formidable wildcards to join Todd Howard on race day as they set out to defend their team title.

In additon to myself and BRC co-founder, Bill Corsan, we’ve got Aaron Case, Dario Herrera and Henry Chan, all as fit as I’ve ever seen them, as well as up-and-coming clinic member, Alan Yu, looking to ride the BRC slipstream all the way to Boston.

Weather Update – As of 12:07 Friday, they’re calling for cloudy periods with low of 10C, a high of 14C and a 20% probability of precipitation.
