Brian, Dario and Henry took on the 40th annual James Cunningham Seawall Race in full Halloween regalia yesterday: Brian was dressed as a jack-o-lantern, Dario as a mummy, and Henry as Henry. Very scary!
The 9.5k event which honours the man who oversaw the construction of the famous Stanley Park Seawall, was won by Derek Snider of Guelph in 29:20, proving once again that Guelph does not need a new 8-lane track. Brian won his age group with a 34:09, while Henry took second in his in 33:59. Dario, wrapped head-to-toe in bed sheets to reduce the swelling from hammering down the BCMC trail on Saturday, finished in 38:29.
Henry put a team together with hopes of winning the mixed team competition and his crew which also included Brian, Lance Surina, Sue Kwan and Mirabelle Tinio ended up beating every team — men’s women’s and mixed — by over three minutes.
